Faux Marble Harlequin Floor
Historic Home, Haverhill NH
The boards of this floor date from 1810, and had been painted many many times. The homeowners wanted to complete the authentic decor of their formal dining room with a faux marble harlequin that would be in keeping with the decorative painting of the era. Over 300 squares in ivory marble to mimic local Vermont stone, and Prussian blue and black marble to mimic northern NH/Canadian stone. Beneath the many layers of paint, we had found original Prussian blue paint, so I left a few areas of that paint to peek through the finish.
